Shin-Okubo’s “Ikemen Street” is about a 5-minute walk from Shin-Okubo Station. If you go straight east along Okubo Dori, the main street in front of Shin-Okubo Station, you will see the entrance to Ikemen Dori.
The origin of the name “Ikemen Street” is in Korean idols. In Shin-Okubo, there is an idol egg “Shin-Okubo dollar”. Shin-Okubo is a place where Korean idol rookies who are aiming to make a major debut start their activities in earnest. Handsome idols parade regularly to hand out flyers to advertise live performances, and it is also a place to interact with fans, hence the name “Ikemen Street”.
Ikemen Street is full of Korean attractions, from Korean gourmet to Korean cosmetics. There are various shops such as food stall gourmet, cafes, cosmetics, Korean food, Korean izakaya, etc. It is a hot spot that you should definitely visit when sightseeing in Shin-Okubo.
新大久保の「イケメン通り」は、新大久保駅から約徒歩5分の場所にあります。新大久保駅の前のメイン通り「大久保通り」沿いを東方向にまっすぐ直進するとイケメン通りの入り口が見えていきます。
「イケメン通り」という名前の由来は、韓国アイドルにあります。新大久保ではアイドルの卵「新大久保ドル」が存在します。新大久保は、これからメジャーデビューを目指す韓国アイドルルーキー達が活動を本格的に開始する場所なんです。ライブ公演の宣伝でビラ配りの為にイケメンアイドルが定期的に練り歩き、ファンとの交流の場にもなっていることから「イケメン通り」という名前になりました。
